The International Forum on Communication Law and Ethics / Foro Internacional de Etica y Derecho de la Informacion (FIEDI) is an annual conference devoted to the study of communication from the point of view of Law and Ethics that is organized as a pre-Conference of IAMCR the preeminent worldwide professional organisation in the field of media and communication research.

The 2019 edition marks the XV edition of this conference originated in Spain and then expanded to Latin America and with the help of IAMCR, over the last four years it has been held at international locations that has helped us connect with scholars from other parts of the world including the United States, Canada, Israel, South Korea, China, Germany, Belgium and others.

This year, our pre-conference welcomes proposals that explore issues related to Freedom of Expression from the point of view of Law and Ethics and particularly those that analyze issues in the context of post-truth and the challenges that disinformation, misinformation, dishonesty, deception, the dismissal of facts and the struggle to define truthful information pose for freedom of expression, freedom of the press and the rights to seek, impart and receive information. We especially encourage proposals that analyze these issues in the context of communication, technology and human dignity focusing on human rights protection in the context of networks and technology, the use of algorithms for information distribution and spreading and combating falsehood online, the use of algorithms in political and legal decision-making including the role of technology in elections as well as the right to be forgotten, privacy and data protection law. Participants are welcome to analyze these and other related issues from the points of view of the Ethics of Communication and Journalism, Constitutional Law, Communication Law and any other theoretical or empirical perspective. We specially encourage doctoral students and early career scholars to participate.
